A casino, located in Cannes, France, has opened an outdoor game room. This is the first type of casino that has been registered in all Europe. The director of the Palm Beach casino, Richard Frischer, said: “We took advantage of a law from 2007 that authorizes gambling games to be exposed as visible activities. But we had to overcome a couple of issues from the Ministry.” The clients, from now one, will be able to play in the new area facing the sea, and having stars for a roof.
In order to open the new area, a lot of difficulties had to be beaten, from which Frischer pointed out: “To guarantee the continuity of the games themselves, for example, in the case that a storm were to begin; also reinforce with cameras and microphones each table.” The access to the table will be only from the gaming rooms from the inside of the casino.
The new area occupies 800 squared meters and clients there can play poker, blackjack and roulette. An advantage that this new area has over the others is the fact that smoking there is allowed, something that has been prohibited since the beginning of the year in restaurants, bars and any other type of public space that is indoors in France.
Frischer added: “We hope that this area allows us to compete with casinos in Monaco.” The first trade union of this sector in France, “Casino de France”, informed in April a 10% decrease in the numbers of businesses in the first trimester of 2008. On the other hand, five of the casinos in Monaco managed, during the period 2007-2008, for third year in a row, an increase of 16%.
